The Newtons Around The World gallery has been updated. Now sporting over 50 wonderful compositions of, what else, Newtons around the world. Go figure. Please give up a big bang of the multidigital mitts to Russ Bravo, Martina Wilson, Michael King, Vincent Lee, Woo Lee, and the King of Newtonia himself, Rich Lindsay for taking the time to submit their pictures. Hopefully, you’ll be inspired to send in your own. Come on, it’s painless.

AppleShare access to the Newted Community server is once again available for your file transferring pleasure. My apologies to those attempting to access the server using AppleShare over the past couple of months. I simply forgot to turn the AppleShare services back on after moving the server back home from its temporary hosting facility. For more information on using AppleShare services with the Newted Community server, please refer to the support section.

Old platforms never die, they just keep getting references on tech culture news sites. With nothing more than a quick aside by Dennis Lloyd, the publisher and proprietor of the iPodlounge site, the slightly imitative but ever respectful Newtons Around The World gallery get a sundry mention near the end of this Wired News article. Hmmm… how many more times do you think this obsolete platform that I love so dear can get mentioned in Wired before the end of the year? Apple should have been so lucky to get this much press when the Newton was shipping.

After a two month hiatus, the Newton FAQ has been updated and is currently available for your primigenous PDA platform perusing pleasure. You may also wish to note that the Newton FAQ is now operating under new management. Newton developer and all around buen huevo, Daniel Padilla, has taken over the controls from former faqmaster Paul Guyot. Paul, thanks for all of the blood, sweat and compilation time poured into the project over the past three years. And Daniel, thanks for failing to realize just how much you’ve bitten off to chew. Mad props to the both of you.

If you can read this message, then the server move (as noted below) was successful and we’re back in business. If you can’t read this message, perhaps your monitor is unplugged or you’re looking at the wrong web page.

The Newted Community server is moving again. Back in July, I moved the Newted Community server to Webcore Labs while my ADSL connection changed from Cadvision to Nucleus. It’s been three months since my Nucleus connection went in and I suppose it’s time for me to move my servers back home again. This means that the Newted Community web site, hosting facilities, FTP, and e-mail servers will be unavailable for 24 to 48 hours starting this afternoon. Sorry for the short notice, but my windows of opportunity for doing these types of things are limited. The server will be moved and DNS records will need to be updated and propagated before web site and e-mail access will return. The newted.dyndns.org domain will be the most reliable address for web and e-mail access during this hopefully brief transition. If you need to contact me during the time that the site is offline, please use either my email hidden; JavaScript is required or email hidden; JavaScript is required e-mail addresses. Thanks in advance for your continuing support and patience.

Good things come to those who wait. What the funk am I talking about? All of those new memberships and accounts that’ve been requested over the past week have finally been processed and created as of this evening. That’s what’s the what.

Note that prospective visitors accessing the Newted Community membership form via the newted.com or www.newted.com domains no longer get kicked in the browser by some ill-mannered error message. The script which dutifully processes the membership form has been updated verily, and all is good in the world of Newton again. Huzzah.

Yes, we’re still here. I was away for a few days this past weekend, which just happened to include the Canadian version of a certain turkey-consuming holiday. And since I was off duty during this time, there are a few straggling membership requests that have yet to be processed. If you happened to request a new account over the last five days or so, my apologies for the delay in getting them set up. All recently requested accounts will be activated shortly and you will be notified within the next 24 hours. I promise.
